Elephant Kind returns to Jakarta with their new album More Time after a three-year UK stint. Discover the story behind their sonic evolution, rigorous studio discipline, and triumphant sold-out homecoming.

Elephant Kind : How Three Years in the UK Birthed the Sonic Evolution of More Time

JAKARTA – Jakarta’s pride, the alternative indie pop trio Elephant Kind, officially returned home after a three-year journey in the United Kingdom. Bam Mastro, Bayu Adisapoetra, and Kevin Septanto brought a special gift for their loyal fans. They finally released their third studio album titled More Time. The band celebrated this milestone with an intimate Listening Party and Semi-Live DJ Set. This event took place at Zodiac, a popular music bar in Senopati, South Jakarta, on Thursday night, March 26, 2026.

The trio transformed the dance floor into a space of pure catharsis during their Live DJ Set. They played upbeat breakbeats that kept the energy high throughout the night. Fans danced enthusiastically to new tracks such as “Hooked,” “Man Enough,” “More Time,” and “Strangest Thing.” The energetic performance proved that the band’s new sonic identity resonates deeply with the local crowd.

Hard Work Behind the UK Tour

Bam Mastro clarified that their stay in England involved much more than a casual visit. The band maintained a grueling schedule by performing 35 to 45 shows every year. He emphasized that the group worked incredibly hard despite some misconceptions back home about their activities abroad. These frequent live performances served as a real-world laboratory for their new musical material. They tested every new song in front of live audiences to see what truly worked. This intensive process eventually dictated the final tracklist for the new album.

The Rigorous R&D Process

Drummer Bayu Adisapoetra described their time in the UK as a period of intense research and development. The band committed to a strict routine by entering the studio four times every week from Tuesday to Thursday. They produced between 70 and 80 demos over the course of three years. The members curated these demos based on audience reception and personal discipline. They eventually selected 12 definitive tracks for More Time from that massive pool of ideas. This disciplined approach gave the band immense confidence when they finally debuted the songs in Jakarta and Bandung.

Evolution and Future Growth

Bassist Kevin Septanto views the shift in their musical direction as a natural evolution. He believes that both old and new listeners simply need a little time to adapt to this new sound. Kevin notes that fans usually explore new genres with curiosity before fully enjoying the music. The band’s recent achievements further validate this transition. They have already performed at major European festivals and sold out headline tours. Their return to Jakarta saw 3,000 concert tickets sell out in less than five minutes, marking a triumphant start to their newest chapter.
