JAKARTA – The Indonesian Embassy in Belgium proudly hosts the fourth Kaki Lima Festival in 2026. This vibrant event takes place at HAL5 in Leuven, Belgium. Native Indonesia, PPI Belgia, Commpassion id, and Quindo actively support this special festival at the end of May 2026. Together, they bring Indonesian arts, culture, and creative products to the heart of Europe. The festival introduces the rich heritage of Indonesia to local Belgian and European communities through delicious food, colorful fashion, and unique art.

Furthermore, Indonesian Ambassador Andy Rachmianto and Leuven Mayor Mohamed Ridouani happily attend the grand event. They join Native Indonesia Co-Founder Indah Virginia and many enthusiastic local visitors. Organizers design the festival space to welcome everyone from all walks of life.

Connecting People Through Traditions

Indah Virginia gladly shares her thoughts on the festival’s great success. She states that the team feels very grateful to see international crowds enjoy Indonesian stories, traditions, food, and creativity.

“This curiosity builds a strong bridge between different backgrounds and creates a very inclusive space for everyone.”

— Indah Virginia, Co-Founder of Native Indonesia

The festival offers many exciting cultural experiences. For instance, visitors enjoy traditional art performances, cultural workshops, and traditional fabric sessions. In addition, local Belgians eagerly participate in the engaging activities. They joyfully dance traditional Balinese dances on the main stage. They cheer loudly for all the performing arts. Consequently, this highly interactive approach successfully introduces Indonesia to the European public. It greatly strengthens cultural diplomacy between the two countries.

Highlighting the Creative Economy

The festival also highlights Indonesia’s wonderful creative economy products. Specifically, the Dekranasda from Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan introduces a special fabric program. They proudly present Sasirangan cloth, a beautiful traditional Indonesian fabric. This colorful cloth carries rich cultural and historical values. Meanwhile, the excitement from the visitors clearly shows that people love modern Indonesian creative products.

Organizers plan to continue this great momentum later this year. They will host the Indonesia Creative Week Belgium (ICWB) in October 2026. Ultimately, this upcoming program aims to promote Indonesian culture across Europe. It also seeks to build strong collaborations, expand global market access, and boost the Indonesian creative economy.
