JAKARTA – The Resonanz Children’s Choir (TRCC) achieved a historic milestone at the 30th Béla Bartók International Choir Competition in Debrecen, Hungary. The talented young singers won the prestigious Grand Prize Winner title on Sunday. This remarkable victory highlights the incredible talent of the young Indonesian performers on the global music stage.
Conductor Avip Priatna led the group to multiple victories during the event. Under his brilliant guidance, the choir secured first place in the Children’s Choir Category with an impressive score of 95.5. Furthermore, they captured another first place in the Free Program Category with an outstanding score of 98. The competition committee also honored Avip Priatna with the Conductor Prize for Outstanding Interpretation of Contemporary Pieces and Expressive Choral Sounding.
This massive success brings an even bigger opportunity for the young musicians. Consequently, this victory earns TRCC a golden ticket to represent the Béla Bartók competition in Italy. They will now compete in the final round of the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing 2027 in Arezzo.
Conductor Avip Priatna expressed immense pride in his team after the announcement. He noted that the children faced highly complex contemporary music pieces during their performance. Therefore, the singers had to master difficult songs to impress the international panel of judges.
“They didn’t just overcome the high difficulties of the music. They also delivered the songs beautifully on the international stage,” Priatna stated in an official release.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Hungary, Penny Dewi Herasati, watched the Grand Prize round in person. She strongly praised the spectacular performance of the young choir. In addition, she emphasized that the singers showed more than just vocal quality. They also displayed extraordinary technical skills, energetic dynamics, clear pronunciation, and deep musical expression throughout the competition.
