Alfamart partners with Layar Digi to launch a micro cinema at its Gading Serpong outlet, offering affordable Indonesian films and a new entertainment experience for local communities.

Alfamart and Layar Digi Launch Micro Cinema in Tangerang

JAKARTA Alfamart introduces a fresh way to enjoy films by launching its first micro cinema. The retail giant works together with Layar Digi to open this mini theater at the Agricola outlet in Gading Serpong, Tangerang. This project changes how people view a convenience store. Now, customers can buy snacks and watch a movie in the same building.

Solihin, the Corporate Affairs Director of Alfamart, explains the vision behind this move. He says that modern shoppers look for more than just groceries. Families want simple ways to spend quality time together without traveling far. Therefore, Alfamart transforms its empty second-floor spaces into cozy entertainment hubs. This strategy adds great value to the shopping experience for every visitor.

Layar Digi manages the daily operations of the cinema while Alfamart provides the location. The operator selects high-quality Indonesian films that suit all age groups. Because Layar Digi handles the technical side, the viewing experience remains professional and smooth. This partnership creates a practical space for art and community life to meet.

Victor Timothy, the CEO of Layar Digi, wants to provide equal access to entertainment for everyone. Many people currently live far from big malls or find cinema tickets too expensive. Consequently, this micro cinema offers a solution for those who lack a local movie theater. Since the soft launch in March, the seats have stayed almost full every day. The public response exceeds all original expectations.

Visitors only pay IDR 15,000 on weekdays and IDR 20,000 on weekends. They can buy tickets easily through an automatic machine inside the store. The room provides 31 comfortable seats and runs five to six sessions daily. In the future, the company will add the booking feature to the Alfagift mobile app. This digital step will make watching movies even more convenient for tech-savvy fans.

The team plans to expand this concept quickly across the country. They aim to open 52 new locations by the end of this year. Some of these theaters will even open on islands outside of Java. This expansion brings Indonesian cinema to more neighborhoods and supports the local film industry. Alfamart and Layar Digi prove that great art does not always need a massive building.
