JAKARTA The Ministry of Culture of Indonesia propels Indonesia into the global spotlight through the Rising Currents platform at Art Central Hong Kong (ACHK). This strategic initiative marks a significant milestone for the Manajemen Talenta Nasional Seni Budaya (National Talent Management of Art and Culture) program in the field of arts and culture. The government actively positions Indonesian artists within the international contemporary art conversation to ensure long-term growth and visibility.

Strengthening the National Art Ecosystem

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasizes the importance of building a sustainable cultural infrastructure for local creators. He views the presence of Rising Currents as a vital step in cultural diplomacy and national advancement. The Ministry focuses on creating a competitive environment where Indonesian art resonates deeply with global audiences. This commitment ensures that Indonesian talents gain the recognition they deserve on the world stage.

The platform functions as a priority program to identify, develop, and promote artistic talent through a structured framework. The international recognition phase follows the initial stages of nurturing and capacity building. This advanced stage opens doors for top-tier talents to participate in prestigious global events. By providing these opportunities, the Ministry expands the exposure and influence of Indonesian art in the international landscape.

A Diverse Showcase of Contemporary Vision

The Rising Currents platform represents the rich diversity of Indonesia’s contemporary art practices. The exhibition features 17 outstanding artists and eight prominent Indonesian galleries working in harmony. This collaboration builds a strong bridge between the national cultural ecosystem and international markets like ACHK. These partnerships allow Indonesian art to remain inclusive and dynamic across different generations of creators.

Fostering Global Connectivity and Collaboration

Director General Ahmad Mahendra highlights the role of galleries as essential nodes within the art ecosystem. The platform initiative fosters wider collaboration between emerging and established artists. This inclusive approach ensures that various artistic voices find a place in the global arena. Through these efforts, Indonesia strengthens its networks and secures a formidable position in the global art community.
