JAKARTA – The acclaimed MAR Musical returns to the Ciputra Artpreneur Theatre Jakarta from May 15 to 17, 2026. This follow-up performance comes after a very successful run in February 2025. Fans of musical drama can now prepare themselves for another captivating experience. The show tells a moving story about love and sacrifice during one of Indonesia’s most important historical moments.
Music director and composer Dian HP leads the creative team with a fresh vision. She reinterprets the classic songs of Ismail Marzuki with a cheerful and dynamic jazz influence. Meanwhile, Ava Victoria conducts the orchestra to bring the dramatic atmosphere of the Bandung Lautan Api event to life. Executive Producer Maera Panigoro decided to restage the show to offer a more polished performance. Consequently, the production team added six new cast members to enhance the storytelling.
This show marks the 13th production from ArtSwara. The 2026 version promises a more spectacular experience than the previous year. Popular performers like Gabriel Harvianto and Galabby return to play the main roles of Mar and Aryati. Furthermore, talented actors such as Tanta Ginting, Teza Sumendra, and Sita Nursanti join the supporting cast. Writer Titien Watimena and director Maera Panigoro worked together to ensure the script remains powerful and engaging for the audience.
The revival of MAR serves as a special tribute to the legendary Ismail Marzuki. At the same time, the project explores new breakthroughs in the world of musical theater.
