JAKARTA – Indonesian contemporary art takes center stage in the international scene once again. Sixteen Indonesian contemporary artists showcase their brilliant work in a grand group exhibition. This exciting event bears the title Cultural Clashing and runs from June 13 to June 21, 2026. Three creative powerhouses, GAAAT Gallery, Canvas Confluence Collective, and Skandara, collaborate to produce this show. They carry a powerful spirit under the banner of Connecting Japan x Indonesia. Consequently, this event bridges visual arts, indie music, urban communities, and street culture.
Bringing Jakarta’s Creative Energy Across the Ocean
Musician and art icon Sir Dandy leads this talented collective. He brings the energetic pulse of Jakarta’s streets directly to Fukuoka, Japan. Through their artwork, these creators demonstrate how music and art shape daily city life. In addition, their colorful pieces share authentic stories about modern subcultures. Every artist in this group maintains a deep personal link to the music world. For instance, some members play in bands, while others design album covers for local musicians. Furthermore, the display tracks the evolution of visual language in Jakarta’s indie music scene since 2000. Therefore, the exhibition shows how melodies can define the cultural identity of a new generation.
