JAKARTA – The veteran grindcore unit from Indonesia, TENGKORAK finally returns with a brand-new single titled Zionist Downfall. This release ends nearly a decade of silence from the band. The current lineup features familiar faces from the group’s long history. Ombat Nasution leads on vocals, while Yoyok Radianto handles the guitar and Ronie Yuska plays the drums. Donni Rimata and Danang Budhiarto also rejoin the band on guitar and bass. Interestingly, these two members previously contributed to the early albums Konsentrasi Massa and Darurat Sipil. Consequently, fans consider this a powerful reunion of the band’s classic roots.
A Bold Political Statement
Zim Zum Entertainment officially released the physical format of the single for Record Store Day 2026. The label offers the music in both CD and cassette versions for collectors. This song carries a very strong message against the invasion of Palestine. Ombat Nasution wrote the lyrics to voice his deep concerns about the ongoing conflict. He believes that music serves as a vital tool for social aspiration. Furthermore, the spoken word section of the track actually existed long before the band composed the final music. Therefore, the message acts as the true heart of this aggressive recording.
Global Recognition and Controversy
TENGKORAK often tackles sensitive and provocative social issues in their work. This tradition started back in 2007 with their album Agenda Suram. Although their themes sometimes cause controversy, the band receives significant international respect. For instance, the song Jihad Soldier appeared on the Global Metal compilation. This prestigious album featured world-class names like Sepultura, Lamb of God, and Gojira. Universal Music Canada distributed that compilation globally. Thus, the band maintains a solid reputation in the international metal scene despite the local challenges they face.
Spontaneous Elements and Future Plans
The new single includes several unique surprises for the listeners. The cover art pays tribute to the classic World Downfall album by Terrorizer. Additionally, the track features a spontaneous vocal contribution from Ombat’s youngest daughter, Sofia. She walked into the room during the recording session and shouted the song’s title. Ombat decided to keep her voice in the final mix because it captured a raw and honest energy. Even after three decades, the band members remain highly active and creative. They have already recorded more new material for future releases. Collectors should act fast because the Record Store Day physical copies remain strictly limited.
