JAKARTA Art Jakarta Gardens returns to the Hutan Kota Plataran from May 5 to May 10, 2026. This year, the exhibition displays a stunning collection of sculptures in the middle of Jakarta’s central business district. Artistic Director Enin Supriyanto confirms that 26 art galleries will join the event this time. Among them are Artsphere Gallery, ArtSerpong Gallery, ArtSociates, Art WeMe Contemporary, CAN’s Gallery, CGartspace, D Gallery, Facade, Gajah Gallery, Ruang Dini Gallery, ZEN1 Gallery, Gudang Gambar, ISA Art Gallery, Jagad Gallery, Kendys Gallery and YIRI ARTS.

He explains that 29 talented artists will present 31 unique sculptures across the outdoor area. Consequently, visitors will see a beautiful mix of works from senior masters like Sunaryo and young stars like Naufal Abshar.

Exploring the Open-Air Galleries

The organizers divide the fair into two main areas to make the visit comfortable. Most galleries display their indoor collections inside two large tents, labeled Tent A and Tent B. Meanwhile, the outdoor space features large-scale works that interact directly with the garden’s landscape. Furthermore, the participating galleries specifically choose artworks that match the taste of the Indonesian market. Because of this careful selection, the fair offers a very relevant experience for local art lovers.

From Pandemic Solution to Annual Tradition

The fair first started in 2022 as a creative response to the pandemic lockdowns. Since people could not gather indoors, the organizers moved the art experience to the open air. This new format received an incredibly positive response from the public. Therefore, the event organizers decided to continue Art Jakarta Gardens as a regular celebration. Now, after four successful years, the event stands as a safe and refreshing way to enjoy high-quality art in a natural setting.

Attracting the Next Generation

Interestingly, Art Jakarta Gardens successfully attracts a new wave of young art collectors. Enin Supriyanto notes that many galleries meet younger buyers for the first time at this specific event. These young collectors often ask for VIP access to larger international art fairs later on. As a result, the garden fair acts as a perfect gateway for the youth to enter the professional art world. Most of these new collectors come from within Indonesia, which strengthens the local art economy significantly.

More Than Just Visual Art

The 2026 edition offers much more than just static sculptures and paintings. For instance, visitors can admire the Tentacles of Wealth installation by Mulyana The Mogus. Additionally, the event features live performances by artists like Sarita Ibnoe and Agus Nur Amal. Music lovers can also enjoy special programs because the fair collaborates with Plainsong Live this year. Ultimately, this combination of music, performance, and visual art creates a vibrant atmosphere for every visitor.
