JAKARTA – Musician and actor Ardhito Pramono recently shared exciting news for fans of classic Indonesian music. He revealed a new creative project under the name Wijaya 80. Ardhito announced this surprise while promoting his latest film, Gudang Merica, at XXI Epicentrum in South Jakarta. This project marks his latest step in celebrating the golden era of Indonesian pop.
He deeply admires his musical idols and their timeless works. Specifically, he respects the legendary composer Yovie Widianto. He expressed his love for Yovie’s early career with the band Indonesia 6. Consequently, Ardhito plans to collaborate with Yovie for an upcoming release. He wants to pay tribute to the high-quality compositions that shaped his own musical taste.
The young artist aims to remake a very famous song from the 1980s. During that era, high school students considered this track a true anthem. Although he kept the exact title a secret, he gave fans a significant hint about the original performer. He confirmed that the iconic singer Paramitha Rusady sang the original version. Ardhito believes this song still holds a very strong nostalgic power for people who grew up in that decade. Furthermore, he notices that people always play this song during school reunions today.
Currently, the project is in its early development phase. Ardhito focused his recent efforts on securing the necessary copyright permissions. Fortunately, the legal owners gave him the green light to move forward with the remake. He felt a great sense of relief after obtaining these rights. Now, he can finally begin the actual production process.
