Satyanara Ubud: Three New Art Galleries Open in Bali

JAKARTA – The Satyanara integrated art destination returns to Kedewatan, Ubud. The Satya Djaya Raya foundation manages this creative space. Satyanara opens its doors to the public on October 23. Consequently, the venue welcomes artists, cultural practitioners, and art lovers from around the world. Furthermore, the space provides a meeting ground for local and international communities. Satyanara brings three new art galleries together in one main area. Specifically, visitors can explore the Ubud Art Ground, Fluid Kinship, and A Brush Between Worlds.

Exploring Local Colors at Ubud Art Ground

Yuanita Sawitri directs the Ubud Art Ground gallery. She explains that the platform first began last year inside an old wooden warehouse in Ubud. Now, the gallery launches its second edition at Satyanara. Therefore, the team builds upon last year’s foundation of culture and tradition. Hendro Wiyanto curates this new exhibition, which the team calls Letters to Colour. Additionally, the showcase features thirty-two talented artists from Bali, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Jakarta, and Solo. The organizers even invite senior artists like Ichwan Noor to participate.

This specific exhibition runs until January 24, 2027. Moreover, the artworks explore the deep cosmology of colors in Bali. While most people know red, blue, and yellow as primary colors, Balinese culture highlights red, yellow, black, and white. As a result, contemporary artists use these four main colors to create their modern masterpieces. They share unique perspectives through their vibrant creations.

Connecting with Nature and History

Next, visitors can experience the Fluid Kinship exhibition. Mella Jaarsma and Yipei Lee curate this engaging presentation. The gallery explores how humans connect with cultural landscapes and the natural environment. Specifically, the displays focus on local food systems. Five different artists discuss important water sources like the traditional Subak irrigation system in Bali. Furthermore, this environmental exhibition welcomes guests until April 30, 2027.

Finally, the third gallery presents A Brush Between Worlds. This section displays beautiful works by the late Professor Chou Cen. Meanwhile, the exhibit shows how traditional Chinese painting survives in modern times. Artists started these ancient painting styles back in the eighth century. Therefore, the gallery wants to show how people still preserve and practice these classic techniques today.

Building a Living Space for Collaboration

Albertus Patomo serves as the Director of Public Relations for the Lyman Group. He shares a strong hope for Satyanara and its three galleries. He wants the area to become more than just physical buildings. Instead, he envisions a living, breathing place for everyone. The management opens the space to all groups, especially the arts and culture sector. Ultimately, Satyanara encourages people to interact and collaborate every single day.
