JAKARTA – Many young Indonesian musicians create amazing songs. However, these artists often face a huge wall when they try to reach global festivals. Promoters and curators look for specific technical documents during the selection process. Unfortunately, standard paperwork mistakes stop many great local bands from succeeding. Consequently, global audiences miss out on brilliant music.
To solve this problem, the Indonesian Ministry of Culture joined forces with WartaJazz. They launched a special online program with the title MTN AsahBakat: EPK & Festival Pitching Masterclass. This free event helps musicians bridge the gap between local talent and the global market. Furthermore, this workshop acts as a vital stepping stone toward the Indonesian World Jazz Meeting (IWJM) 2026.
Participants learn crucial skills to upgrade their professional portfolio during the masterclass. For example, industry experts teach musicians how to build an Electronic Press Kit (EPK). They also explain how to write a standard global tech rider for live stages. In addition, the instructors share proper pitching
etiquette and communication techniques.
“Our musicians make wonderful music, but they fail at curation stage because they submit non-standard documents,” notes Agus Setiawan Basuni, the founder of WartaJazz and an international curator.
Therefore, this class reveals exactly what international festival curators want to see. The program brings together a powerful line-up of experienced speakers to share their secrets. Musicians will meet composer Tesla Manaf and SRM Bookings founder Satria Ramadhan. Sound artist Rani Jambak and curator Agus Setiawan Basuni will also guide the students. These professionals offer practical advice for real-world music business challenges.
The organizers split the free masterclass into two interactive Zoom sessions. The first session starts last Saturday, May 30, 2026. Meanwhile, the organizers will announce the date for the second session in early June. Attendees will earn an official e-certificate to boost their portfolios after they complete the class.
